Program Requirements
The decision to undergo bariatric weight loss surgery is not an easy one to make. Surgery programs have established criteria for determining who should consider bariatric weight loss surgery when traditional weight loss attempts have failed. These requirements are determined by physicians and some insurance companies in identifying bariatric weight loss surgery candidates:
- Candidates for our program should be greater than 18 years of age
- Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than 40 or BMI greater than 35 with at least one of the following co-morbid conditions:
- Uncontrolled hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
- Type 2 diabetes
- Coronary artery disease
- Obstructive sleep apnea
- Severe gastroesophageal reflux (GERD)
- Hyperlipidemia / Dysplipidemia
- Pulmonary hypertension
- Failed attempts at weight loss through traditional diet and exercise efforts. Many insurance companies may require participation in a physician supervised weight loss program / regimen ranging from 3 months to 12 months. The WK Weight & Wellness Solutions Program is designed to assist those individuals whose insurance companies may require a structured program prior to surgery.
- A commitment to adhering to the requirements of the program during the pre-surgery and post-surgery phases
