Inpatient Care
Inpatient services are provided at the WK Rehabilitation Institute where the Institute for Behavioral Medicine offers separate adult psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry floors. Both inpatient acute psychiatric stabilization and detoxification programs are provided, as needed. Patients age 18 and older are accepted into inpatient units, which offer a safe, confidential setting to enhance healing.
General Adult Program
The program features
- Daily visits with a psychiatrist
- Daily therapeutic group interaction on topics such as relapse prevention, relaxation techniques, anger management, grief issue and family dynamics.
Family members are encouraged to visit patients during their stay. We encourage visitation from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. each day to avoid interfering with therapeutic activities.
Information on referrals is available 24/7.
Senior Adult Program
Our geriatric psychiatry program is dedicated caring for our older population. As people age, their unique needs become apparent as they deal with changes of growing older. These changes in health, work, family, and leisure activities may affect their ability to function or deal with life. This program is helpful for patients who have developed cognitive disorders and mental decline, such as dementia.
Within this supportive and confidential environment we offer senior adults comprehensive physical and psychological assessments as well as therapeutic activities to help them cope with changes in their lives. The program features personal attention, including daily visits with a psychiatrist and other therapists.
The goal is to support the patient and then help identify resources to ensure the patient receives appropriate care after discharge.
