Pancreas Transplantation
The John C. McDonald Regional Transplant Center began the pancreas transplant program in December 1995. The Center has been on the forefront of pancreas transplantation as two of the transplant surgeons have helped to pioneer the field of portoenteric pancreas transplantation which has been used at the John C. McDonald Regional Transplant Center since October 2007.
Indication for Pancreas Transplantation at John C. McDonald Regional Transplant Center
- Type I diabetes with severe blood sugar management problems
- Endocrine and exocrine insufficiency following total pancreatectomy
- Age greater than or equal to 18 years old at the time of listing
