Comprehensive Neurological Program

Willis-Knighton’s outpatient neurological rehabilitation program provides an integrated, functional approach to aid in the recovery from neurological dysfunction due to:

  • Stroke or brain tumor
  • Mild or severe head trauma
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Oxygen deprivation
  • Other progressive medical conditions that affect the brain or spinal cord

The goal of the Neuro-Rehab program is to return individuals to their home, community, work, educational and social roles. This may include rehabilitation therapies for:

  • Mobility
  • Independence in self-care and home management
  • Communication and language
  • Cognition and memory skills
  • Emotional adjustment and coping

In addition to the traditional rehab therapies of physical, occupational and speech, this specialized program offers cognitive and behavioral rehab and case management. Emphasis is placed on teaching compensation techniques for maximum function in all capacities.

Participants must: have potential for functional improvement, and be able to communicate basic needs, require only minimal assistance to use the restroom or have an attendant. Minimum age is 13.

Participants must be free from active substance abuse and not be a risk to harm self or others.

The Neuro-Rehab program is located at the WK Rehabilitation Institute but individual neurological therapies may be provided at other locations for patient convenience.
