Pediatric Intensive Care
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is located at Willis-Knighton South & the Center for Women’s Health. Here pediatric intensive care specialists provide care to patients 24/7 with the support of two pediatric intensive care specialists as well as specialized nursing staff who deliver care to children from infants to age 18.
The PICU has been designed to create a kid-friendly environment that to make the child and parent feel more comfortable. But, of course, the goal is to speed your child’s release to fully recover at home with familiar faces and surroundings.
Children who need the PICU might include those with respiratory problems or diabetes, those who have a serious illness, like flu, and those who have had surgery.
The PICU has an open visitation policy so parents can stay with their children throughout their hospitalization.
