Specialized Interests/Qualifications

Dr. Black received the Michael E. Burt Memorial Award for Clinical Excellence in Surgery from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology Merit Award. She also received an American Cancer Society Summer Research Fellowship grant and a research grant from the Society of Surgical Oncology. During her medical school training she received the Lucy Wortham James Research Award. Dr. Black has to her credit numerous publications and presentations. Dr. Black has a specialized interest in minimally invasive, robotic or laparoscopic, surgeries.

Professional Affiliations

She is a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is director of Gynecologic Oncology at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport where she teaches students and residents.
