Low Dose CT Lung Cancer Screening Program
Willis-Knighton Health System now offers a Low Dose CT Lung Cancer Screening Program.
Benefits of screening for Lung Cancer:
- Louisiana has the 11th highest incidence and 8th highest mortality rate due to lung cancer in the United States. It is the most deadly cancer in Louisiana, causing almost one-third of the state’s cancer deaths.
- Screening can find cancer at an earlier stage when it is easier and less expensive to treat. Screening may also find other diseases in the chest that may need to be treated.
Low dose CT (LDCT) lung screening is quick, easy and results in a minimal amount of radiation exposure. Willis-Knighton now offers LDCT lung screening to individuals who meet the established high-risk criteria. This screening is similar to mammography whereby the patient will need to participate annually.
