Diagnostic Recommendations
Mammography
– This is used when a patient age 30 or older is experiencing concerning symptoms or an abnormality has been discovered on a screening mammogram.
Ultrasound
– Ultrasound is the first line of evaluation in a symptomatic patient who is younger than age 30.
MRI
— This is typically performed after a biopsy has been identified positive for breast cancer and the doctor needs more information about the extent of the disease.
