Structural heart disease refers to defects relating to the heart’s valves, walls or chambers. These problems can be present at birth. But most of the structural procedures we perform are due to aging, lifestyle and results of other disease processes like diabetes
No matter the cause, the experts at the Willis-Knighton Structural Heart Clinic can help get your heart working right.
Here are some of the reasons to trust us with your care.
State-of-the-art diagnosis capabilities
High-quality cardiac imaging is essential to diagnosing and treating a structural heart problem. Willis-Knighton has one of the best echosonography teams around. Their combined years of experience and up-to-date knowledge of cardiac tests help them diagnose structural heart conditions with high levels of accuracy. This makes building you an effective treatment plan easier for our physicians.
Imaging and diagnostic tests we can perform include:
Treatments and technology you won't find elsewhere
We take pride in the cardiac technology we offer in the structural heart clinic. Through extensive education, we ensure that all of our staff are experts in the latest and safest heart procedures.
We are the only provider in the Ark-La-Tex to possess advanced cardiac technologies, such as MitraClip®, to repair heart valves and chambers. By offering these advanced structural heart procedures, we’re able to offer alternative options to patients who otherwise wouldn’t qualify for traditional, more invasive methods.
We're also the only hospital in the Ark-La-Tex to provide all of the minimally invasive structural heart procedures that are currently approved—and one of just two hospitals in Louisiana that offer them. These procedures are MitraClip®, Watchman™ and Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).
Our TAVR capabilities are especially unique in our area. They include Transcaval and Transaortic TAVR, the Basilica technique and valve-in-valve (VIV) TAVR.
Other treatments and technologies the structural heart clinic offers include:
