Cardiac rehabilitation is a program designed to help a patient recover and sustain good heart health. It is delivered in phases after the diagnosis of heart disease and treatment such as heart surgery, angioplasty, stent or other heart condition. It is also suitable for any person who is at high risk for cardiovascular disease, providing them with preventive techniques and a heart healthy lifestyle.
Phase 1 is delivered by a nurse educator while the patient is still in the hospital.
Phase 2 is a three-month medically-supervised program available at each of the WK Fitness & Wellness Centers, with monitored exercise, nutrition classes and wellness support for patients adjusting to their heart condition.
Phase 3 is a two-month transitional program, helping patients move to unmonitored medical fitness at a WK Fitness & Wellness Center.
