Conditions
Babies treated in our unit are generally those who are born prematurely or who are born with a health condition that requires additional care before they can be released home. Typically, these are some of the reasons a baby may be cared for in the NICU:
- Premature birth (born before 37 weeks of pregnancy)
- Low birth weight
- Respiratory (breathing) issues
- Low blood sugar
- Infection
- Birth defect
- Jaundice
- Bleeding
- Digestive issues
