Conditions

Babies treated in our unit are generally those who are born prematurely or who are born with a health condition that requires additional care before they can be released home. Typically, these are some of the reasons a baby may be cared for in the NICU:

  • Premature birth (born before 37 weeks of pregnancy)
  • Low birth weight
  • Respiratory (breathing) issues
  • Low blood sugar
  • Infection
  • Birth defect
  • Jaundice
  • Bleeding
  • Digestive issues
