Kathryn A. Gayle, MD, M.Ed., is an advanced cardiac imaging physician who welcomes patients by referral only. The specialty services she provides put Shreveport on the map in medicine, with another physician who can provide the same expert services a three-hour drive away.
She collaborates with other cardiologists to help provide the most appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan for patients who have valvular or structural heart disease. Dr. Gayle’s advanced fellowship training includes echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography and cardiac MRI, as well as nuclear cardiology and cardiac CT. In other words, Dr. Gayle takes pretty pictures of the heart to help a patient’s entire care team better understand the cardiac pathology at hand. She provides imaging support for physicians before and during structural heart procedures and surgeries. Patients benefit from a better understanding of the diagnosis and possible treatment options. Pursuant to her care philosophy, Dr. Gayle helps patients make informed decisions that best align with their life goals.
A native of Shreveport, Dr. Gayle graduated from C.E. Byrd High School. She is a summa cum laude graduate of LSU in Baton Rouge with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and two secondary degrees in English literature and community nutrition. Dr. Gayle went on to graduate first in her class at LSU Health Sciences Center – Shreveport School of Medicine. At Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, she completed an internal medicine residency and a cardiovascular medicine fellowship. Dr. Gayle continued her training at Vanderbilt with a second fellowship in advanced cardiac and structural imaging. She simultaneously graduated with a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in teaching, learning and leading at Nashville’s Lipscomb University. Dr. Gayle is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease.
When not analyzing pictures of the heart, Dr. Gayle enjoys Shreveport restaurants and nice walks with her family, friends and large golden retriever named Wylie. She also enjoys exercise on her Peloton bike. Her husband, Christopher Eldredge, is a CPA, and they have a daughter named Rose.
