Dr. McMillan graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and went to the University of Virginia Medical Center and Louisiana State University Medical Center Shreveport for his residencies. He pursued a fellowship in Renal Transplantation at Louisiana State University Medical Center Shreveport and another fellowship in Liver Transplantation at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.
He is certified by the American Board of Surgery in both Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. In addition to his work at the Advanced Surgery Center, Dr. McMillan has been a professor of surgery at LSU Health Sciences Center Shreveport.
Dr. McMillan is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, the International Society of Liver Transplant Surgeons and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. McMillan has published numerous articles on various aspects advanced surgical medicine in such publications as “Hepatology” and “Clinical Transplantation”. He has made many presentations to doctors and surgeons throughout the United States on his work in kidney and liver transplantation.
