Meet Dr. Oner A. Khera

Dr. Khera received his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania. He then pursued postgraduate science education at Georgetown University (Washington, DC), George Mason University (Fairfax, VA) and The George Washington University (Washington, DC). He went on to receive his medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine in 2005.

Dr. Khera completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Cincinnati in 2010 where he was awarded by his fellow residents as the best graduating chief resident.

With a deep interest in the spine, he was then awarded the Louis A. Goldstein Fellowship in Spinal Surgery at the University of Rochester’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in Rochester, NY. There he focused on surgical and conservative management of the entire spectrum of spinal disorders, including scoliosis and other spinal deformities, spinal infections, spinal tumors, spinal stenosis, and Level I spine trauma involving fractures of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spines.

Throughout his training, Dr. Khera participated in numerous research activities and presented at orthopaedic conferences.

Prior to coming to Shreveport, Dr. Khera was in private practice in Phoenix, AZ. He was awarded the Rising Physician Leader Award by HonorHealth Deer Valley Hospital and was also voted as a Phoenix “Top Doc” for Orthopaedic Spine Surgery.

In his personal time, Dr. Khera is an avid racer. He holds a competition race license with the National Auto Sport Association and currently competes on the national level. He also enjoys many genres of music, has a long-standing passion for movies, and is always happy to try new foods.
