Feb 26, 2025

Willis Knighton Health has received accreditation for its new oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program. The program, approved by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), aims to prepare the next generation of skilled surgeons to meet the growing demand for expertise in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

The oral and maxillofacial residency program is the latest residency program offered by Willis Knighton Graduate Medical Education, which began its surgery and internal medicine residency programs in July 2020.  A psychiatry residency program was added in July 2024.

“The establishment of this residency program underscores Willis Knighton’s commitment to excellence in education and patient care. We are excited to equip residents with the knowledge, skills, and compassion required to excel in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery,” said G.E. Ghali, DDS, MD, program director.

The four-year residency program combines comprehensive clinical training, research opportunities, and academic excellence. Residents will gain hands-on experience in areas such as facial trauma, orthognathic surgery, temporomandibular joint surgery, facial cosmetic surgery, sleep apnea surgery, craniofacial reconstructive surgery, dental implantology, cleft surgery and management of benign and malignant pathology, under the guidance of world-class faculty and practicing surgeons.
