Kathryn Gayle, MD, MEd, with WK Advanced Cardiac Imaging, has gained board certification in cardiac MRI imaging from the Certification Board of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CBCMR). She is the only physician in Shreveport-Bossier City with this certification, and Willis Knighton is the only healthcare organization in the region that offers this service.
Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, the gold standard for cardiac function assessment, plays a crucial role in diagnosing cardiovascular disease. It is a painless, safe and noninvasive way for physicians to see detailed pictures of the heart, including chambers, valves and muscles, and how well they are working.
“I love figuring out the ‘why?’ Cardiac imaging allows me to do just that,” Dr. Gayle says.
A graduate of LSU in Baton Rouge, Dr. Gayle earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Science Center Shreveport School of Medicine. She completed an internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, where she also completed fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and advanced cardiac and structural imaging. While in Nashville, he also earned a Master of Education (MEd) in teaching, learning and leading at Lipscomb University.
Dr. Gayle opened Willis Knighton Advanced Cardiac Imaging in 2022, becoming the only specialist of her kind within a three-hour drive. The advance imaging expertise and consultation she provides assists cardiologists as they identify the best treatment options for patients with complex diseases.
WK Advanced Cardiac Imaging is located at Willis Knighton’s Heart & Vascular Institute North. As a subspecialist, Dr. Gayle accepts patients by physician referral only.
