National Lung Cancer Screening Day is Saturday, Nov. 11, and Willis-Knighton Health System, WK Radiology, primary care physicians and pulmonologists are combining forces to catch signs of cancer and begin treatment early to save lives.
CT screenings will be done from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at WK Portico Imaging, 7925 Youree Drive, Unit 120.
To be eligible for the screening, participants must:
- Be a current 20+ pack year smoker or have quit within the past 15 years **
- Have no signs or symptoms of lung cancer
- Have had no CT in the past 12 months
- Be age 50 to 77
- Have a referral and preauthorization from primary care or pulmonary doctor
Registration is required by calling 318-455-3183. Covered by most insurances or $50 self-pay is available at time of service.
**To calculate your smoking history:
# of packs smoked per day × # of years smoked = packs per year
Ex: 1.5 packs per day x 20 years = 30 packs per year
