Meghan Harris, MD, has joined the Willis-Knighton Physician Network. She and her colleagues Dmitri Aleksenko, MD, Chaitanya Amrutkar, MD, and Mary McFerren, PA-C, have established WK Pierremont Neurology Clinic.
Dr. Harris, who has practiced in Shreveport for more than a decade, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology at LSU in Baton Rouge and a medical degree at LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport. She began her neurology residency at Tulane Medical
Center in New Orleans in 2005. However, as a result of Hurricane Katrina, she relocated to Shreveport and continued her residency at LSU Health Sciences Center. She subsequently completed a fellowship in multiple sclerosis at the same institution.
Dr. Aleksenko specializes in general neurology but has a special interest in headache medicine with a fellowship in that subspecialty at the University of Rochester in New York. He focuses on treatment of migraines and other headache related pain. Dr.
Aleksenko earned a medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada after graduating from York University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and health science. He served a neurology
residency at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport
Dr. Amrutkar practices general neurology and with a subspecialty in clinical neurophysiology. He graduated from D.Y. Patil Medical College in Kolhapur, India, and came to the United States for an internal medicine internship at the Berkshire Medical Center
in Pittsfield, Maine. He served a neurology residency at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport and completed a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.
The physicians are joined in the clinic by Mary McFerren, PA-C, who brings more than 20 years in primary care and internal medicine to the practice.
WK Pierremont Neurology Clinic is located in the WK Pierremont Medical Arts Building, 1811 E. Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, Suite 120. The doctors welcome new patients and most insurance plans.
