Anil Chhabra, MD, FACC, FACP, has been appointed Chairman of Cardiology for Willis-Knighton Health System. He replaces Michael Futrell, MD, WK’s first chairman of cardiology, who retired in 2017 after more than 30 years of service.
Dr. Chhabra is a graduate of Christian Medical College in India. He finished his internship and residency at the University of Tennessee’s Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga before completing a fellowship at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
Board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Chhabra has expertise in peripheral arterial-vascular disease and interventional cardiology. He was one of the first cardiologists in our community to offer coronary stenting and angioplasty. He is a partner with Pierremont Cardiology.
“I am humbled by the faith and trust placed in me by the hospital administration,” Dr. Chhabra said. “Today’s healthcare environment is complex, but we have great leadership at Willis-Knighton. I look forward to working with my fellow cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons to maintain our status as the No. 1 cardiovascular center in our region.”
