The Rev. Andrew Comeaux, MDiv., MSW, received the National Association of Social Workers (Louisiana) Lifetime Achievement Award on Wednesday, March 15, during the group’s annual conference in Baton Rouge.

Comeaux, an ordained minister, is and director of Spiritual Life Services for Willis-Knighton Health System and The Oaks of Louisiana. He is also a licensed clinical social worker and a NAADAC certified substance abuse professional. 

When selecting the winner of this award, NASW recognizes the best social work values and accomplishments as demonstrated in one’s lifetime career.

Comeaux, who oversees the spiritual well-being of patients at all five Willis-Knighton hospitals and serves as chaplain at The Oaks of Louisiana, has been a priest for more than 40 years, serving in Roman Catholic and Episcopal churches on the parish and diocesan levels.

A native of Plaquemine, Comeaux is a graduate of St. Joseph Seminary College in St. Benedict. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans. He also has a Master of Social Work from Tulane University. 

“I was blown away when I received the call that I had received this award on the state level,” Comeaux says. “I have attended the state awards for many years and many whom I admire have been recipients.”
