Pulse Dye Laser Wart Removal
Overview
The Pulsed Dye Laser is a technology for removing warts from feet. It is relatively painless, and requires only local anesthesia with no incision. This procedure treats the wart without leaving an open wound or affecting the surrounding skin.
Laser Treatment
After preparing the area by scraping or shaving the wart's thick skin, the doctor directs the laser light onto the wart. The pulses of light heat the area's red blood cells, cutting off the wart's blood supply and killing the virus that caused the wart.
End of Procedure
The treated wart will turn a grayish-purple immediately following therapy. The discoloration continues for 2 to 3 weeks as the growth dries up and separates from the skin. The doctor will shave off the remainder of the scab at a follow-up visit.
After Treatment
Most warts respond to the first treatment. Depending on the size and type of wart, however, some may require additional treatments. Following the procedure, most people can return to normal daily activities.
