Chemical Peel: Medium (TCA Peel)
Overview
This treatment rejuvenates the skin of your face. It helps the appearance of wrinkles, scars and blotchy skin.
Preparation
Before the peel, you may be given medicine to help you relax and to control pain. Your skin is cleaned.
Procedure
Then, the doctor applies a strong chemical solution to your skin. It penetrates the skin's outer layer, called the "epidermis," and part of the deeper layer, called the "dermis." The chemical damages this skin, causing it to turn white or grey.
End of procedure
When the treatment is finished, cool compresses are applied to your skin. Your doctor may cover your skin with ointment. Your skin will be red, tight and swollen. It will sting. Within a few weeks, a new outer layer of skin will form. Your doctor will give you tips to help your recovery.
