Melanoma Monday Identifies Cancers and Precancerous Skin Conditions

Melanoma Monday, a service of Ark-La-Tex Dermatology, the American Academy of Dermatology and Willis-Knighton screened 88 patients on Monday, May 6. The screenings were performed by Dr. Josephine Futrell and Dr. Sarah Glorioso. The youngest patient was 31 and the oldest, 90.

“We diagnosed numerous precancers and non-melanoma skin cancers as well as identifying several possible melanomas or atypical moles,” said Dr. Glorioso. “The patients were very appreciative of the service.”

Dr. Glorioso and Dr. Futrell recommended that the people who had suspicious spots have the areas biopsied and treated by a dermatologist.

Ark-La-Tex Dermatology has participated in this national initiative of the American Academy of Dermatology since 2008.
