How Can Palliative Consult Services Help?
The following are some of the issues the Palliative Consult Services Team may address:
- Advanced or progressive illnesses such as cancer, congestive heart failure, heart disease, COPD, chronic respiratory failure, kidney failure, liver failure, Alzheimer’s/dementia, stroke, ALS and similar conditions
- Recurrent or uncontrolled symptoms such as pain, shortness of breath, nausea/vomiting, lack of appetite, decrease in energy, depression, anxiety and others
- Frequent emergency room visits or multiple admissions to the hospital
- A turning point in your illness where treatment is no longer working
