Reveal LINQ™ Insertable Cardiac Monitoring System

Irregular heartbeats may occur only every few days, weeks or even months. That can make them difficult to diagnose.

The cardiologists at Willis-Knighton Heart & Vascular Institute have technology available that can help. It's called the Reveal LINQ™ Insertable Cardiac Monitoring System, and it helps your doctor get long-term data about your heart's function.

The Reveal LINQ™ system can be used to diagnose:

  • Unexplained fainting
  • Unexplained stroke
  • Heart palpitations
  • Suspected atrial fibrillation

How the Reveal LINQ™ system works

The Reveal LINQ™ system has two major components. The first component is an insertable cardiac monitor (ICM) that’s placed just under your skin above the breastbone in a quick procedure that takes around 30 minutes. The ICM sends data about your heart’s rhythm to the second component—the MyCareLink patient monitor, a device you set up next to your bed.

The MyCareLink patient monitor collects the data about your heart’s function and makes it available for your doctor to review.

Your doctor may also choose to add a Patient Assistant. This small device marks symptoms that you experience and includes that information along with the heart data tracked by the Reveal LINQ™ system.

Living with the Reveal LINQ™ system

One of the biggest benefits to this monitoring system is that it works without requiring you to change your daily activities. The system won’t be disrupted by microwaves, wireless phones, anti-theft detectors at stores or handheld digital devices. It's even safe for use in an MRI setting.

You can also go anywhere you want with the device—even travel, as long as you take the MyCareLink monitor with you.

The system also doesn't require a lot of maintenance. The battery in the implanted device lasts for up to three years. And the MyCareLink patient monitor gathers and transmits data to your doctor as long as it has power and an adequate cellular signal.
