Diabetes Management

Certified Diabetes Educators provide education in both group and individual formats in the following content areas:

• Blood glucose monitoring
• Meal planning
• Risk factor reduction
• Exercise
• Medication & insulin use
• Complications
• Stress management

Insulin Pump Training:

• Team approach on operation and use of pump by certified pump trainer
• Carbohydrate counting with registered dietitians who are certified diabetes educators

Gestational Diabetes Management Classes:

• Comprehensive class offered weekly
• Individual follow up appointments
• Schedule: Wednesday afternoons from 1:30 pm to 3 pm
• By appointment only, physician referral required

Referrals & Appointments:

A physician referral is required for all diabetes services. Physician offices can fax referral information to (318) 212-4080. Appointments can be made during regular business hours by calling (318) 212-4250.
